Chemical peeling

Chemical peeling is a popular non-invasive (non-surgical) procedure. It is a skin rejuvenation and regeneration method based on an application of a special agent with a glycollic acid (AHA) content. Chemical peeling is recommended to anyone who is troubled by pigment spots or skin damaged by sun, fine wrinkles, tired skin, acne, enlarged pores or excessive activity of the sebaceous glands. The peeling is most often applied on the area of the face, neck, décolletage, back and on the backs of hands.

What is chemical peeling?

Chemical peeling has a positive effect on skin rejuvenation and regeneration. It is a an application of a special agent with a glycollic acid (AHA) content, which is a natural substance extracted from sugar cane and used in various concentrations. This procedure is carried out in several stages depending on the skin type. Therefore, we can distinguish between three types of chemical peeling: deep, moderately deep and surface.

Who it is intended for?

Chemical peeling is recommended to anyone who suffers from:

  • pigment spots or skin damaged by sun
  • fine wrinkles
  • tired skin
  • acne, enlarged pores, excessive activity of the sebaceous glands

The areas most commonly treated by chemical peeling are the face, neck and décolletage. Chemical peeling is suitable  for both the back and the backs of hands.

The benefits of chemical peeling

The action of AHA acids causes a thorough cleaning of the skin, shrinking of the pores, brightenening, and improvement in their hydration and elasticity. A smoothing of fine wrinkles, reduction of pigmentation and skin colour unification also occurs. This method also effectively contributes to the treatment of acne. After the treatment, one can witness a reduction in the sebum production, pore tightening and partial smoothing of scars caused by this disease in the past.

What is the course of the treatment?

First, effective active substances are evenly applied on the treated skin. The action of AHA acids loosens the skin and commences its regeneration. The renewed skin is smoother and finer, endowing it with younger and fresher appearance. Chemical peeling of the face and neck is performed in weekly intervals. We usually recommend 4-6 sessions depending on the extent of skin damage and the type of the treated skin.

The treatment takes only a few minutes and is virtually painless. Skin redness occurs and lasts for the following 1-2 days. In order to soothe the skin after the procedure, we recommend the application of a suitable cream. Furthermore, it is not advisable to expose the skin for 14 days to direct sunlight. Chemical peeling can be combined with other methods, eg. laser gel mask or bio-stimulation laser.

Chemical peeling represents a relatively safe and effective beautification method, which is definitely worth a try.
