WRINKLE SMOOTHING BY USE OF BOTULINUM TOXIN
Botulinum toxin is a substance that is applied at our clinic by fine injections into mimic facial muscles which cause wrinkles. Botulinum toxin blocks nerve transmission, which prevents the muscle from contracting and thus from creating wrinkles. The result of its application is the stretching of skin and smoothing of wrinkles.
The procedure takes only a few minutes and the effect starts to be noticeable after two to five days. The optimum effect is usually achieved fourteen days after the procedure. Slight swelling and redness of the skin may occur after the application, but they usually disappear within one hour.
Recommendations after the procedure
It is not recommended to lie and bend your head forward immediately after the procedure. Approximately two days after the treatment you should avoid direct sunlight, solarium, sauna and intensive sports. Apart from these few exceptions the procedure does not limit you in any way and you can immediately return to normal daily activities.
The effective duration period of Botulinum toxin
Botulinum toxin is effective for 3-6 months before the muscle function is gradually restored. After that it is necessary to repeat the procedure. The intervals between the individual applications, however, gradually increase. After a period of muscle's inactivity, one often looses the undesirable mimic habit– eg. wrinkling one's forehead, creating a frowning impression.
Effects of the hyaluronic acid and its application
The hyaluronic acid is a natural substance which normally occurs in the body, but gradually decreases with age. As a result of that, the skin loses elasticity and hydration and starts to form wrinkles. The use of filler material from hyaluronic acid can make the skin regain greater elasticity, thus achieving a visible smoothing of wrinkles.

The wrinkle smoothing procedure is performed using thin needles. During the application of the hyaluronic acid, you may feel slight burning, which can be prevented by applying anaesthetic cream or by injection.
Recommendations after the procedure
There are no more restrictions after the procedure and one can return to normal daily activities. Any traces of a needle injection in sensitive areas or rednesses will disappear within a week. Until then, it is not advisable to expose the treated area to high temperatures (sauna, tanning) or to severe coldness.

Over time, the substances in the skin are slowly degraded and their application therefore has to be repeated after a certain time. The duration of the effective period varies. It usually ranges from 6 to 12 months, but the procedure can be repeated whenever needed.
