HOW DO STRETCH MARKS APPEAR? THEY CAN EVEN BE PREVENTED!

Stretch marks are essentially permanent skin damage. They arise as a consequence of the connective tissue disorder, which causes the connective tissue to recede and become thinner. They are indeed "internal" scars, as the skin on the surface itself is not damaged, but the layer below it is reduced and lacks elastic fibres.

Stretch marks most often appear during and after pregnancy, also, as a result of faster weight gain (but also muscle mass gain as a result of weight-lifting, for example). Stretch marks appearing during puberty when the kids grow up quickly are not an exception either. Inheritability may represent another factor, so if your mum has stretch marks it is quite probable that you will have them too.

The ideal prevention against stretch marks  is definitely hydration. This means that when using body lotion or oil at least once a day, the skin will be moisturized, supple, and therefore less prone to the formation of stretch marks.

FIGHTING STRETCH MARKS

If you already suffer from stretch marks, do not despair, there are several ways how you can mitigate them. Nevertheless, the sooner you start with the correction, the better. At the beginning the stretch marks are usually red and can be raised, over time they fade and level themselves. Special skin lotions and oils primarily designed for stretch marks can be quite helpful.

WITH ESTHÉ AGAINST STRETCH MARKS

At Esthé we use the pulsed-dye V-beam laser to correct stretch marks which is capable of dramatically improving their appearance. For some body parts we also use the fractional CO2 laser, which stimulates the production of collagen in the skin and thereby restores its elasticity.

Another method used at Esthé is radiofrequency in which the skin is remodelled, thus promoting the formation of collagen fibres. This method is commonly used to smooth out wrinkles and acne scars. It also positively affects bright stretch marks.
